Documented cases of medical neglect, sexual abuse, and family separation at the T. Don Hutto camp echo the atrocities experienced by our ancestors in Nazi Germany. As Jews we have seen this before, and we cannot allow this to continue in our own backyard. Join us in Taylor, Texas as we demand that the T. Don Hutto concentration camp be shut down completely and permanently.
We demand that all suppliers cease their complicity, and that the City of Taylor terminate its Memorandum of Understanding with CoreCivic, the company that owns this camp.
As God commands us in Exodus, “you shall not wrong the stranger, nor shall you oppress him, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt.” So we will gather on Sukkot, a harvest festival that commemorates the forty year period during which the Jews wandered the desert as refugees in escape from Egypt.
We invite all people to join us in our vision of refuge: we demand that T. Don Hutto and all camps in this country be shut down. We pray that all migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers here and everywhere be afforded dignity, justice, safety, and compassion.
