Join the immigrant community and allies outside the State House to demand that legislators follow through on their promises to protect immigrants in the state of Massachusetts! The undocumented community has been fighting for drivers licenses for 15 years and have STILL not seen lawmakers deliver on promises to grant access to licenses to all residents regardless of immigration status.
Earlier this month, we celebrated a quinceañera to “celebrate” the 15 years of fighting for this right, and we have been delivering birthday cake to lawmakers in the weeks since. This rally marks the 15th piece of cake we’ll be delivering to statehouse, one for every year the immigrant community has waited for licenses. We can no longer accept silence on this issue and we will not rest until the undocumented community can access legal drivers’ licenses.
Driving without a license is a necessity for many in the immigrant community, to do basic things like take their children to school, buy groceries and get to work. Driving without a license means that people live in daily fear of being stopped by the police for something as simple as a broken tail light and it leading to detention and deportation. Fourteen other states along with DC and Puerto Rico have already passed laws allowing undocumented community to carry drivers licenses.
This is a Cosecha Massachusetts action, with support by Never Again Action. All are welcome — immigrants, Jews, and allies.

Únete a la comunidad inmigrante y aliados en las afueras de la casa estatal para exigir que los legisladores cumplan con sus promesas de proteger a los inmigrantes en el estado de Massachusetts! La comunidad indocumentada ha estado luchando por licencias de conducir por 15 años y TODAVÍA no visto que los legisladores cumplieron con sus promesas de brindar acceso a licencias a todos los residentes, sin tener en cuenta su estatus migratorio.
Este mes, tuvimos una quinceañera para “celebrar” los 15 años de luchar por este derecho, y cada día hemos estado entregando una porción de pastel a los legisladores en las últimas semanas. Esta manifestación marca la porción 15a de pastel que entregamos a la casa estatal, una porción por cada año que la comunidad inmigrante ha esperado licencias. Ya no podemos aceptar silencio e indiferencia en este asunto y no descansaremos hasta que la comunidad inmigrante tenga acceso legal a licencias de conducir!
Conducir sin licencia es una necesidad para muchos en la comunidad inmigrante, para hacer cosas básicas como llevar a sus hijos a la escuela, ir al supermercado y llegar a sus trabajo. Conducir sin licencia significa que las personas viven a diario con el temor de ser detenidos por la policía por algo tan simple como una luz trasera rota, lo que conlleva a su detención y deportación. Otros catorce estados junto con DC y Puerto Rico ya han aprobado leyes que permiten a la comunidad indocumentada llevar licencias de conducir.
