The Right-Wing Latinos of Miami: Proud Boys and Refugees

The Latino demographic in the US has long been seen as a fixture of the Democratic party, especially in light of the immigration controversy on the Southern border. However, in the coastal city of Miami, Cuban exiles and their descendants – and more recently, Venezuelan refugees – are defying this trend. Many embrace Trump for his denouncement of Socialism & his tough stance on immigration, despite its profound impact on fellow Hispanics. VICE went South Florida to embed with both Venezuelan refugees and rightwing Latino activists, such as the local chapter of the Proud Boys, to learn more about how they reconcile their identities with a movement many see as unsympathetic to the plight of more marginalized members of the community.
