June 30 – Shut Down Yarl’s Wood – Hunger for Freedom Solidarity Demo
100 days since the first #HungerForFreedom strike passes in June 2018. Join us at the collectively organised demonstration at Yarl’s Wood IRC to show support for the demands made by those detained there during the strikes. There are 10 detention centres in the UK, where people are held indefinitely – we demand they are all shut down immediately, and detainees are released back into their communities, whatever their immigration case process stage. The detention system is unnecessary, cruel, (re)traumatising, racist, xenophobic, dangerous and proven to foster abuse towards people inside – and is rejected by our communities. We will continue resisting and organising until for all of us our humanity is affirmed, safety guaranteed, and equal human rights regardless of immigration status are acted upon.
