HAMILTON REPORTBACK (via Hamilton Against Fascism): FASCISTS SHOW UP FOR DONUTS, RUN AWAY FROM ANTI-FASCISTS!
Hamilton Against Fascism is thrilled to announce that the fascist “Patriot March” on Locke Street was a complete and utter failure. The fascists -Soldiers of Odin, Proud Boys, and III% among them- were unable to march on Locke Street, and those that did show up ran away shortly after.
Faced by a large and militant opposition consisting of Hamilton Against Fascism and our community allies including the Revolutionary Communist Party, Muslim Association of Hamilton, and Hamilton & District Labour Council, the fascists were wildly outnumbered.Earlier in the morning, well before the fascists announced arrival, a group of Soldiers of Odin supporters rallied outside of Donut Monster. When we learned of this, we attempted to confront them, but were prevented by the police. But, when the Soldiers of Odin learned of the opposition they would face, they too ran away, showing up at the house of one of their supporters a substantial distance away from their planned meeting point. They later attempted to attack The Tower, a local anarchist space, but were beaten back there as well. Let us be clear: once again, today was a resounding defeat for the far-right in Hamilton, and a huge victory for anti-fascist forces.The police, out in numbers we have never before seen in Hamilton, as usual protected the fascists, proving once again that ‘Cops and Klan go hand in hand!’ The Hamilton police employed pigs from out of town, and horse cops, in an attempt to blockade Locke Street. We condemn the police for protecting fascism. Hamilton Against Fascism would also like to thank our comrades in Peterborough Against Fascism, Toronto Against Fascism, KW Against Fascism, St Catharines Against Fascism, and the Revolutionary Student Movement for standing with us today to shut down fascist bigotry. Just over a year ago, Hamilton Against Fascism held its first rally, also in response to fascist mobilization. There we pledged to stop fascism from gaining a foothold in Hamilton by any means necessary. Once again, we were successful in that task. Hamilton will not become a stronghold for fascism.No pasaran!
