Franciszka Manheimer-Rosenberg (aka Franciszka Mann) was a 26-year-old Polish ballerina living in the Warsaw Ghetto in 1943 when the nazis rounded her and 1700 other Jews up and shipped them to the Auschwitz concentration camp. On this day 76 years ago, Franciszka and 600 other Jewish women arrived at the concentration camp and were being herded into gas chambers when she produced a pistol and shot two of the SS guards, killing one. Her action sparked the other women into fighting for their lives – some accounts claim that an SS guard had his nose torn off and another one was scalped by the women. Unfortunately, this resistance was unsuccessful, as SS reinforcements soon arrived and any women not already in the gas chamber were cut down by machine gun fire, including Franciszka. All 600 women died that day. Franciszka Manheimer-Rosenberg, original antifa. Never forget. Never forgive.
