On Wednesday of last week, a leak of the database of the neo-Nazi web forum Iron March, where members of the Atomwaffen Division terorist group recruited and organized, was posted online. Responding to a request from journalist Kim Kelly, we went ahead and wired up that data to an expansive search engine, enabling other journalists and antifascist researchers to dig through the forum’s posts and user profiles. We even went to the trouble of mining publicly available APIs for geolocation and personally identifying information to match with the profiles, in order to help surface the true identities of these violent, dangerous bigots.
Give the site – https://ironmarch-web.now.sh/ – a whirl and identify the Nazis in your community. Just click on ‘Users’ and enter the name of your city or state into the search bar. It’ll come back with a map of all the Nazis lurking around you, a terrifying but illuminating experience, to be sure.
Our search tool has received accolades from journalists around the world investigating the leaks, including those who have identified active duty soldiers and police officers among the forum’s users with our help. We’ve also made the code available as open source so that it can be used by others investigating other database leaks.
This is apparently all to much for Nazi-coddling hellsite Twitter dot com, which at nine o’clock this morning, instituted a 12 hour lockout and forced us to delete a tweet containing the email address of a neo-Nazi living in the Orthodox Jewish stronghold of Teachneck, NJ. It would appear that providing non-identifying information about a member of a forum run by a murderous terrorist group whose openly stated goal is to mass-murder Jews is a violation of Twitter’s terms of service.
