march in Westlake park on the 29th of September. Show up and let them know this city
doesn’t tolerate bigotry.
The alt-right are planning yet another flag waving MAGA rally at Westlake. These are the some of the same people who recently attacked a Sounders fan on the streets of Seattle and caused all kinds of trouble in Portland August 17th. As antidote to the expected hate speech rhetoric and fascism parading as patriotism, Sparkle Orchestra shall strike again to bring that sonic revelry to disrupt the normalization of hate and fearmongering in our city with all that glitters, glitches, hisses, rattles, squeals, sings, and goes boom. Sparkle Orchestra employs the tactic of the spectacle to outshine and drown out the wrong side of history with noise and fabulosity. And it’s an invitation for you to join us. Dig out that old band instrument, improvise with whatever pot or pan you’ve got lying around or anything that will make a sound, don an optional costume, conjure up that biodegradable glitter, bust out the bubble wands, and let’s get free together in the name of everyday anti-fascism! We’ll have some instruments on hand extra, but if you’re able please feel free to bring water, granola bars, or even something for our un-housed neighbors who don’t get much choice in who’ll be in their space and might be stressed out.
