85 years ago today, the people of Toronto fought fascists in the streets around Christie Pits after a group of nazis were stupid enough to taunt a Jewish-Italian team during a baseball game. You know, the sport involving baseball bats. This sparked a riot that at its height had 10,000 fighting in the streets for six hours. Here’s the story of the Christie Pits Riot of 1933.
