On this day, 20 February 1924, Italian anarchist tailor Ernesto Bonomini killed a leading Italian fascist in a Paris restaurant. The man he killed was the leading official of the local far right, an editor in Paris of the fascist paper L’Italie Nouvelle, a correspondent for the Italian fascist paper Popolo d’Italia, and a spy for Mussolini’s secret police. At Bonomini’s trial in October he declared that he wanted to avenge the victims of fascism, adding that he had no sympathy for Soviet “Communism” which persecuted anarchists as much as fascism did. He was sentenced to 8 years hard labour, which was then commuted to simple imprisonment. Here is a short biography: http://ift.tt/2sFQQjN http://ift.tt/2ESspEJ
